Christian Kimber is the rising sneaker star of Melbourne’s fashion-forward crowd. His brand new online store launched for your perusal in July, with a pop-up store at Blender Studio setting the ball rolling.
To celebrate his first collection, Four Pillars supported Christian Kimber’s launch party in this graffiti covered space on a cold Melbourne night, with Four Pillars G&Ts to toast the hot footwear.
Our love of craft and all things bespoke drew us to Christian’s designs - like Four Pillars Gin, he is another great example of creative Australians mixing old-world panache with progressive new-world style.
It’s great to see artists embracing the culture of our beautiful Australian cities into world–class designs.
Kimber designs men's shoes that every guy longs to wear with his favourite rolled up Nobody Jeans to the latest and greatest cold drip coffee joint (we think even Onitsuka-Tiger-obsessed Matt secretly wants a pair). English born Christian grew up in London, where he says he developed his love and appreciation of well crafted, classically beautiful shoes.
Making his home in Melbourne in 2011, he began to develop his designs into the contemporary pieces he sells today (soon to be available in Bloomingdales, New York).
Melburnians can enjoy styles named after some of the city’s most iconic bars, restaurants and laneways. Try a pair of deep blue “Cumulus” high tops on for size. Maybe the “Siglo” low tops in olive green are more your style. Alternatively, venture out of town in a pair of dusty brown “Tarrawarra” boots.
And stay tuned for the “Healesville” edition soon…
