Stu and I got back from exploring a cocktail scene that was just all ‘round super impressive.
The emerging scenes of Vietnam, Thailand, Hong Kong and Singapore are really exciting. And they’re all part of environments, cultures and climates that bode so well with cocktails and distilling alike.
The people there understand using citrus like no where else on earth (they also understand the difference between ‘local chilli’ and tourist chilli’ - it’s a thing, trust me). We were constantly surprised by the imaginative, balanced cocktails that were put in front of us, and the Shakedown cocktail contest was testament to the talent that’s emerging from these hot spots.
Plus, $4 for the best Pho ever. Successful trip, to say the least.
